Tânger

Tânger é uma cidade na costa norte de Marrocos que costuma ser a entrada em África para quem viaja por via terrestre vindo da Europa. Devido à sua proximidade com o Velho Continente, Portugal tentou conquistá-la por diversas vezes. Viria a ter sucesso apenas em 1471 quando, depois da tomada de Arzila (hoje Asilah), os habitantes abandonaram Tânger antes que fossem atacados. Tânger só deixou de estar em mãos portuguesas em 1661, altura em que (juntamente com Bombaim, Índia) fez parte do dote de Catarina de Bragança quando esta casou com o rei Carlos II da Inglaterra.
